More exercises from Zelda's:

1) Connect these two lines:

It was the best of times, it was the - holy shit! What the hell is that?

and

And as she fell into his arms she lost all hope

It was the best of times, it was the - holy shit! What the hell is that?

She jumped in her chair
almost dropped the book
at the thunderous crash outside

and then the door opened
and he walked in
again
without warning
he walked back in
to the house
to her life
walked back in
after five years

walked back in
like the moon returning to the sky

walked back in
like Odysseus revealing himself, bending the bow

walked in
like Eris's golden apple rolling into a room

walked in
like a wounded bird or a broken angel falling from the sky to land at her feet

walked back into
the universe as she knew it

and as she fell into his arms
she lost all hope

2) a poetry obsticle course, using the following words to get started: children classical troubled illumination accord

classical music playing inside his head,
inaudible to anyone else
children running in circles, shrieking
lovers lying against each other, declining to
leave their bed
colors bleeding one into the other into the other
fire turning wood into heat and smoke and ash
troubled hearts still beating

agitated atoms throwing off illumination
time bending and folding like oragami paper
lines crossing, connecting, dividing
writers sleeping, dreaming in prose
