Remember how totally absent George W. Bush was from the Republican convention? It was clear that the GOP realized he was unpopular, and flushed him down the memory hole to avoid tainting the image they wanted to build of Romney.

The problem is, W is less unpopular than Romney. Trail Blazers Blog reports:

George W. Bush posts better favorability ratings than Mitt Romney in new Bloomberg survey

For all the talk about whether Mitt Romney should distance himself from George W. Bush --and the policies of the last GOP White House -- a new survey shows that the former president actually has better favorability ratings than the Republican nominee.

The poll results are available here (PDF). Favorable/unfavorable ratings for some interesting people and groups:

  • Obama: 52/44
  • The Republican Party: 41/49
  • The Democratic Party: 46/45
  • Romney: 43/50
  • Bush (W): 46/49
  • Clinton: 64/29
  • Ryan: 41/41
  • Biden: 42/45

Interestingly, Michelle Obama also outscores Ann Romney, though both have better ratings than their husbands: 63/29 and 49/29, respectively.

While there's a chuckle in learning the Romney is less popular than Bush, the fact that 46% of Americans have a favorable impression of the war criminal who many historians believe to be our Worst President Ever, illustrates Why This Nation Is Doomed.
